A production-led writing container
12 creators. 12 weeks. 12 finished drafts.
A production-led writing container for writers - be they emerging/established and any combination of writer/director/sound operator – whoever wants to wants to stop talking about a script and write the dang thing. (And learn what it takes to make it.)
Production brain in the writing room.
Over 12 weeks, you'll write your screenplay while learning to understand what happens when creative choices meet production reality. As well as things like – how to actually attach a producer to make it all happen.
The commitment
This is not 12 weeks of more course content or access to a library of videos/pdfs that you will ‘get around to in your own time’ there will not be a bunch of ‘resources’ available after the sessions.
It's 12 weeks of doing.
By the end of the year, you could have a draft of your screenplay.
Not an idea.
Not a treatment.
A draft.
Approximately 80 pages of something that didn't exist when you started.
For some writers, it may be the first screenplay they've ever actually finished.
You will write.
You will finish. (If you stick to it!)
The difference
This is not a script editor service
Script editors are excellent.
I've done that work on both sides of the page. I know the value of good development and good notes. You're not handing over your script and waiting for somebody to tell you what they think and guide you through the process – that is also valuable but that’s just not what this is. This is different.
You're coming into the room.
Putting pages in front of other writers.
The script will be:
How it works
The anonymity keeps you free.
Your pages enter the room without your name attached.
The work is separate from the writer.
You can take risks. Fail. Write like no one is watching. Put six terrible pages in the room or six Oscar worthy ones. It doesn't matter.
Nobody is looking at you.
They're looking at the work.
The deadline keeps you moving.
Every Sunday, you're coming back into the room.
The script is moving forward.
You can't wait for the perfect weekend.
You can't wait until you have more time.
You write.
The random selection keeps you pressured.
Your pages might be the ones in the room fighting for their ink.
You don't know when. (Something about that and not being sure you’ll be read that night is what keeps it from being homework. Nice healthy dose of fear.) Which means you can't spend twelve weeks quietly polishing scenes while pretending you're writing a screenplay.
The work needs to exist.
The notes keep making it better.
Production classes
The Production classes make you ask - is it worth it?
NOT can we make it cheaper? Making things cheaper is not the answer – way too many single location two-three actor scripts floating around, sometimes they are great but not necessarily written for story but written for achievability – finding that balance is something we will explore.
Sometimes the answer is:
Kill it. Nix it. Forget it.
Sometimes:
Fight for it and spend the flipping budget! This is the thing. This is what “money shots” are.
Every beat must fight for its life.
What we explore
Production brain in the writing room.
Over 12 weeks, you'll write your screenplay while learning what happens when creative choices meet production reality.
We'll explore:
Production breakdowns – how to organise anything from a birthday party to a wedding (it’s all production anyway)
Props, stunts and action, construction, vehicles, blood, sweat, and tears…
Scheduling
Budgeting
Casting
Crewing up
Production complexity and the financing side of it all
How to actually get a producer???
Learning how it gets made with those six pages each week that need to survive Sunday night.
Oh yeah and
Every Worth Making writer receives access to Final Draft 13, the industry-standard screenwriting software.
You'll get access when you enrol.
Not on 4th October.
Want to get comfortable with it before we begin? Great.
Want to leave it untouched until October? Also great.
It's simply access to the right tool. And you don’t even strictly need to use it to write – you can work away with your older version or celtex or whatever you want if you want to get the hand of it – this isn’t another software course. (but of course we will go through how to actually use it!)
Because once we start:
We're writing.
Who is this for?
Worth Making is for writers who are ready to work.
You don't need a finished screenplay.
You don't need to know anything about production.
You don't need to be an established writer – you can be of course – you can be a writer/director/actor or theatre head, heck a grip with a great idea – it doesn’t matter.
Bring the idea. Bring the Post-it Notes. The vibe of a scene that make no sense but compels you…
We'll start there.
Meet Leeona

About Leeona Duff
I've spent 18 years working in production.
And I'm still in it…still producing, still developing. Still getting notes.
My own scripts get beaten up and down the road too.
And every now and then, there may even be anonymous pages in the room that nobody knows are mine… scary.
I had previously run script editing services down through the years and was considering reopening them all the way through maternity leave… and got the ick. Because I just didn’t get enough out of that format and felt that writers didn’t get enough out of it.
I was thinking what would actually be valuable – learning how to make it, ok yes production classes I LOVE doing those and I’ve often guest lectured at colleges etc, but also helping people actually write and have something finished – done better than perfect – and have it had the benefit of loads of feedback without the personal pressure of it being so… personal. Oh and Final Draft because it is essential.
I run my life in the 12 week year format – and it just kinda came to me. This container could be the thing. It’s condensed but that’s why it will work.
Not putting my whole bio in here.
Feel free to google me and see what I’ve done so far - and I'm just getting started.
Ok but what’s the fee/rate/ “personal investment”?

On Zoom – links will be sent beforehand and email where to send your pages and Final Draft access after enrolment. That’s it. It’s a simple container because it’s about the results.
Honestly, I’m not interested in building a brand or whatever here. I want to be teaching what I know and getting writers what they need.
The next time this may run is possibly – maybe April/May/June 2027 – depending on my own production scheduling because like I said I’m still in it, still making stuff.
WORTH MAKING
The anonymity keeps you free. The deadline keeps you moving. The random selection keeps you pressured. The notes keep. Making. It. Better.
